BSF Proposed Landfill - Act Quickly!!

Postby Gregshade on Thu Mar 18, 2010 9:33 am

Outside of Oneida there is a proposal to build / enlarge a landfill on a major tributary of BSF: Bear Creek. The landfill will eventually be overy 300 acres. They are seeking coment on the proposal that is very likly to be approved unless there is a ground swell of opposition. See the link to local article titled "who wants to swim in Cancer Creek?" Comments needed asap.

As if it wasn't bad enough with all the logging in the last few years that have removed the erosion barriers, now they want to put a landfill nearby as well?

I have sent letters to both local and state reps, the gov of TN and the Scott County Mayor in addition to the powers that be in Nashville.

I received a response today from the Mayor. He loves BSF and is personally opposed to the idea but he does not control the permit process. The Nashville guys are the ones to contact. Do it by 4/5 to make a difference.
